Jumpers for Goalposts - theSpace on the Mile

This is not the romp it could be. Given a great script and a willing audience, I wasdisappointed that the show did not fly as high as it could. I think there was a lack of energy and drive at the start which they did not recover from. The director, Iain Davie, needs to consult Viv's coaching manual and give them a pep talk to go out therefighting. They can win this!

The actors each created an effective character, making them more human than simplecaricature. Staging was a couple of changing room benches which di a fine job and they used the space well. Shannon Mackenzie needs to show more of the bluff self-confidence of Viv. Richard Lydecker keeps Beardy just the right side of parody and reveals thesensitive guy underneath. Arran Robertson-Kane carries the weight of the world on his shoulders and provides a quiet rock around whom the others revolve. As Luke, Scott Johnstone is totally credible and touching in his shy acceptance of Danny's advances. RichardPhilips is a delight as Danny, desperate, despondent yet always there for the team.

This promises to get much better. Come on guys, you can do it!
