Adam

This is the true story of Adam, born as a transgender girl in Egypt and now living as a man in Scotland. His remarkable journey, struggles and childhood are brought to life on stage in a most remarkable production that is my pick of the fringe and one of the best shows I have seen in many years. As a production it is slick, entertaining, visually delightful and full of humour and stress - as a story it moved me to tears, informed me and made me reassess my own attitude to transgender, assylum and Egypt - a country I have often visited and where I have always found the people friendly and welcoming to visitors. 

Sensitively performed (Adam plays himself), lit and staged this deserved its standing ovation. Tragic and uplifting, I hope that this show has a longer life than its Fringe appearance and small Scottish tour, it deserves it and audiences deserve a chance to see it.
